Using a Record producer to create a Knowledge Article

I have been tasked with creating a record producer that will allow a user to create a knowledge article. I have run into a few issues that I cannot find info on. Also i am very new to scripting and have not been that great at it so far.

1. I have an application field that will need to do the following:

      a. Set the Category field. The category field is mapped to the article category field. I have a publish flow that will send approval requests based on what application is selected.

      b. Set the Application Name in the other fields I have and where the application is mentioned in the short description and the article body.

      c. Sets the selection in the From field for the department in which the article is coming from.

I am not sure of how to write the script and if is should be on the Record producer itself or as a catalog script. I woulld to keep this with as little scripting as possible. Any suggestions?

-Record producers are used to creating records in ServiceNow
-Knowledge Articles can be created using a record producer
-The record producer must be configured to create the knowledge article type
-The record producer must be associated with a form that contains all the necessary fields for the knowledge article
-The form can be configured to include any necessary customizations such as default values, visibility, or mandatory field
