Variable Editor on RITM and TASK (IT Servicecatalog)

Hello,
Can one of you explain to me how to control the variables in the Variable Editor (IT Service Catalog)?
So what do you have to do to make the variables in the grey box appear in RITM and especially in the task?

Does the (global) checkbox have anything to do with it?

Is it a standard or can everyone in his instance do it as he likes?

How to create a variable editor and manage the display?

Is it possible to make general statements?

On the RITM all variables are displayed by default. You can use UI Policies and Scripts to hide them if desired.

On the TASK variables are not displayed by default. You can add them individually to the task using the variables slush-bucket at the bottom of the task activity. Or you could add them via a script:

Last but not least, if you check the global check box on a variable, it will be automatically added to any catalog task created from an item with that variable as a part of it.

On the task level you can also use scripts and UI policies to hide variables, etc.

All of this can be controlled as per your requirements in your instance.

The variable editor is already created for you; to manage the display you would use UI Policies and Scripts, and would add variables to the tasks, or make them global.

Hope this helps!

Hi Meloper,

You can check for Catalog UI Policy and Catalog Client script. We have options to show, hide variables and make them mandatory.

Please find below screenshot for your reference.

So if ypu want to make the varaible read only on catalog task just create a UI policy and select applies on catalog task.

Hope it helps.
