What attachments stored in sys_attachment & sys_attachment_doc are required for OOB functionality?

Our company needs to downsize the amount we have stored in sys_attachment and sys_attachment_doc. 

 

Just want to sanity check since I'm newer to Service Now. What attachments stored in sys_attachment & sys_attachment_doc are required for OOB functionality?

This sounds like you're jumping from sanity check to "delete the contents of the table".
Anything that's REQUIRED would fit into a normal instance... so they shouldn't be considered for deletion ever.


Instead, why not look at your sys_attachment table for attachments of a certain size and see if you can find any trends in the data.

Once ... VERY long ago, I was the admin for the SN instance with the largest attachment footprint.
Seemed ludicrous to me when SN told me. 
But when we looked at the file sizes... all excel cheets, all on sc_task table.
We finally discovered there was an offshore team doing line item reconciliations in excel.
Due to some strange mechanism, the excel files were MASSIVE... hundreds of megabytes.
And they were uploading over 100 / day.
