They are similar as they both use variables, but a Record Producer uses a script or template to producer an Incident or Change, ideally not a Request. Whereas a Service Catalog would use a workflow, or execution plan to producer a Request with associated RITM and Catalog Tasks. The workflow could include approvals.

A catalog item works with the cart where you can add multiple and then you can order. On the other end it creates a request, request item, and possibly approvals and tasks depending on its workflow.
A record producer is nothing but task based record., most commonly create an incident.

Record producer we can vaguely state as collection of service catalog.
Eg: Onboarding the employee.
To onboard a employee instead of user raising separate request for access, id card, seats he can request in one.

Hi Swati,
It is orderGuide.
An order guide is used to ordering multiple items.
