Hello Sruthi,

Configuration Item (CI): Any computer, device, software, or service in the CMDB. A CI's record will include all of the relevant data, such as manufacturer, vendor, location, etc. Configuration items can be created or maintained either using tables, lists, and forms within the platform, or using the Discovery application.

Hi Sruthi,

Configuration Item : Each element in the IT environment is an individual entity. The representations of these entities are Configuration Items (CIs).

In other words, CI is a software model that contains the attributes of the represented entity.

For exapmle,

In databases, this is described in the schema.

Sure, here's a simple explanation of a Configuration Item (CI) in ServiceNow:

- A Configuration Item (CI) in ServiceNow is any tangible or intangible asset or service component that needs to be managed in order to deliver an IT service.
- CIs can include hardware like servers and routers, software like applications and databases, services like email or network access, and people or teams who deliver the service.
- Each CI is recorded in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) with its attributes and relationships to other CIs.
- CIs are used in other ITIL processes like Incident Management, Problem Management, and Change Management to understand the impact of these processes on the IT services.
- For example, if a server (which is a CI) goes down, it can affect multiple services. By having the server as a CI in the CMDB, you can quickly see which services are affected and take appropriate action.
- In ServiceNow, you can create, update, and manage CIs using the Configuration Management application.

If a caller calls in for MS teams which is not working in the VDI.

The resolver team changes the VDI services, so what would be the CI for this issue ?
