What is the advantage of using Subscription management

Hi All,

I have gone through the Subscription management document. What I understood is it will show the status of how many subscription license we purchased and how many consumed, list of application connected with subscription and more.

But I am not clear what is main benefit of subscribing the user to Subscription (Ex Service Management Suite v2 - Fulfiller User). Are the subscribed users will get the access to application listed under Subscription record ? Is the similar like provide access to user by providing roles (Exp : ITIL). If not , What is the advantage of adding user to subscribed list of subscription than providing role to him.

Any help would greatly appreciated.

Hi Swamy,

You nailed it in the first paragraph. Subscription management is a tracking method. It's not used to do the actual entitlements, it's used to track them. A way for you to tell your boss "Hey, we're going to need more licenses next year if we continue to grow this way." or "We purchased 1000 of these licenses and only using 250... We should look in to that."

Can you help me on what is the use of adding user under "Subscribed User" list of Subscription. If I have added any End user to "Service Management Suite v2 - Fulfiller User" subscription ,   Will it change how the End user access ServiceNow isntance ?

It is my understanding that making changes here does not impact what users have access to.

So Subscription Management will help us to know the license details. And if we want to know how many license consumed, we need to check the User-roles table. is my assumption correct.
