1. What is the significance of 'Primary' field on the Company form?
2. The doc here says "Designate only one company in your system as the primary company." - What happens when multiple companies are marked as 'Primary'?

Hi, primary company is tied to default values like banner image\banner text, which may be difficult to visualize as these can be overwritten by other settings like themes etc. In PDI if you update the banner text of the primary company and refresh your browser this should overwrite 'Dev' with your new value.
There can be only1 primary company and OOB you cannot save a second record flagged as primary if one already exists, I would not recommend altering this.
