Why can't I add an activities formatter to my custom table?

I looked at https://www.servicenow.com/community/servicenow-ai-platform-forum/adding-the-activity-formatter-to-a... and created the new activities formatter AND added it to my form.
I get an error "The Activities formatter is only supported in UI16 and earlier". What do I need to do in order to get my activities to show up on this table?

it should work fine.
Your custom table is task extended or non-task extended.
share screenshot of the error.
