Why don't I get the message "Security prevents writing to this field" in the table list view?

Hi everyone! When I double click on a field in the list view of the table, I don't get the popup that shows the message "Security prevents writing to this field", it doesn't perform any action. It only works for some fields, but for the fields that are dot walking fields it's not working. What could be happening?

Check the 'List edit type' setting on the table, and that of the dot-walked fields.  Right-click on the column headers and choose Configure > List Control.  On the List Control form there is a field labeled 'List edit type' where this could be disabled.
