Unable to add a variable to a sctask on a OOB workflow

i am trying to add a variable (start date)  to catalog task in the "Email User setup catalog item. i think this is a OOB workflow. i tried to save it and i got a error message "match not found" reset to original" .

Am i able t configure OOB workflows or should i copy this flow and adjust it and make the older on inactive?

That's a field error message showing on a hidden field!  Select a 'Schedule based on' value and you will see a 'Schedule' field.  Change that value, then change 'Schedule based on' back to the original value.

Hi thank you and one more questions. This is a OOB workflow is it best t copy this workflow and make that adjustment or will this minor change be an issues for upgrades etc

It doesn't hurt to copy it and use the modified version, so it's probably safest to do that.
