Why is a few model categories not available while creating hardware and consumable assets?

Hello

I have been working on a ITAM project and observed that while creating a new Software License asset, all the model categories are available in the 'Model category' reference field but only a handful model categories are available when creating a hardware or consumable asset. (Screenshot below)

Can anyone please provide some insight on this as to what exact filter or reference qualifier is applied for this behavior?
