Why Walk-up Experience Create Interaction?

Hi Every One ,
I have configure the walk-up experience in my instance. When I Check-in or schedule an appointment it creates Interaction only. Can we create an appointment record when we check-in in walk-up portal instead of creating an interaction?
If not possible, can able to share where the product documentation is specially mentioned the walk-up experience create only Interaction when we check-in.
