I've been asked to create a table to hold records linking out to various sub-process records in a variety of tables. Easy enough, Document ID field for the record sys_id and a dependency set on a Table Name field for the record type.
However, I've also been asked to add a field with the Workflow type to show the progress of the various records through their lifecycles. They all have very different lifecycles and are not driven by a workflow engine, but they appear to be simple choice fields with some magic happening behind the scenes.
It seems the stage_state table may be involved in that magic but I can't quite work out what's going on here. Is there any documentation on how to use that field type which I'm missing? If not, do any of you wonderful people know how it works?
