Ingesting Jira Epics and User Stories into Digital Product Release

Hello All,

We are trying to capture  Jira epics and user stories into ServiceNow Digital Product Release.  We've setup the Tool connection and we can  get the Jira projects listed under the Plans portion of DPR. But when we open the project in DPR, the Epics or user stories  which are in Jira are not there. We were expecting to see them under Work Items or Features that we can  associate with Releases.

I hope someone here can  provide guidance on how we can utilize DPR, so we can map our Jira epics and user stories to DPR Releases

HI @AllanPG ,

Please follow the steps outlined in the links below, one after the other:

Once the setup is complete, you’ll be able to view all the work items under the Release Scope section of the release.

Hi @AllanPG

I understand that you have already connected to your Jira tool and already imported ( Discovered ) all the Projects (also can be called as Plans) from the Jira tool. Now under your plan you don't see any workItems.

Is this my understanding correct?

(1.) If this is the case, to get your existing stories imported from jira to devops data model you can choose the respective time-frame for the data import while associating your plan to the procuct. Check below SS for your reference >>

(2.) Also for real-time data to be sinked in the DevOps tables (wherever you create any epic/story in your jira it should get created as a record in the Servicenow tables e.g. sn_devops_workitem table) Make sure you have configured the tool. You can check below SS

Below are some helpful resources >>

Please share more info with SS if this is not the issue which you are trying to resolve, it will help us understand the problem better.

Hi @rohitroy ,

Thank you for the reply to my concern.  Here is a sample screenshot of a Plan record, ingested from our Jira.   Based on the names listed in the Plan (in DPR),  they match the Jira Project Names.  So the one I opened is a Jira Project which has  epics and user stories, but in the DPR I don't see these epics or user stories, only the Project names which are reflected as Plans in DPR.

@AllanPG Yes I see it. All the stories, epics and all sorts of tasks should come as a workItem record here in Servicenow. These workitems are imported while in below ways >>

1.  while associating the plan to the Product (sometimes called as App in the devops).

2. On demand basis we can select the plan and import its workitems.

Looks like because of some issue the import button is not directly visible in the DPR workspace for which you can try below workaround.

1. Lauch DevOps Workspace

2. Go to tools section and select your tool

3. Click on the Plans tab

4. Open the Plan for which you want to import all the workitems
5. Click on apps tab ( I assume you have already associated your Plan to any app/product)

6. Click on the app

7. click on Plans

8. Select your plan

9. Import data button will be visible click on it and select the timeframe for which you want to import

Note >> You can also follow the steps in my previous comment incase you have not associated your plan to any Product (app). Also to get live data being sinked in devops you can track the Configure the Jira tool (check previous comment SS) and track your plan.
