EC Academy Session: Employee Communication Q&A

1. Can role based on location-based communication be targeted? Can I reach out to all managers or employees related to a specific site?
A. Yes, there is an audience targeting capability for the content that is created. This allows us to target employees with certain roles, managers, specific geographic location, and more flexibility.

2. If one has employee center base and in future acquires the Employee center pro license, is there an additional configuration needed with the new license? Will the portal need to be redone?
A. The portal need not be redone. The only configuration required is for the new features that are available with EC pro.

3. Do we have an implementation approach about timeline for small, medium, and large enterprises?
A. It depends on the goals of the organization and the starting point. In general, many of our customers can go from idea to deployment within 2 months with a multi–departmental portal. If you are implementing foundational capabilities as well like catalog, knowledge, VA (Virtual Agent) then you should expect it to take longer.

4. Can I aggregate content from SharePoint or some other CMS (Content Management System) into content experience widget so employees can get unified news/communication from the entire company?
A. You can link to the external site as a quick link on the widget

5. Is the employee communication responsive on mobile? Or do I need to consider mobile layout?
A. The blocks meet WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standards and by default most of them are 100% responsive. There are some videos that will require some adjustment.

6. Can custom fonts be used/selected to match a customer's branding guidelines?
A. The fonts are by default using the employee center portal style, but you can use settings to overwrite the defaults and set your specific styles

7. Will the content widget inherit our custom styles (I.e., font styles)
A. This builder loads style/CSS from portal to enable you to create experiences that completely match the portal style.

8. Can you view approval requests against potential conflicts or other scheduled content set to be live or go live during the time?
A. Yes, the reviewer will have the option to preview the content in the portal page that will be targeted to, so will be in the context of that widget and should show you any conflicts at that point in time.

9. Will the governance (approval) be assigned over topic? Example travel content can be reviewed by travel group; onboarding content can be reviewed by HR? Or is it only going to one team?
A. Governance utilizes ServiceNow’s standard assignment functionality allowing you to set up individuals or groups who can be assigned the request. There are additional “ownership” capabilities (not shown in the demo) which will allow you to assign a specific user or group to own a given topic (this will limit the ability of scheduling content to a specific topic to only the assigned owner of that topic)

Hello @amrithaanayak I have a question on #9.  From reading this, I am thinking that you are saying that we can restrict content owners so that they can only post to their specific topic page and not others. Is that correct? Essentially, I am speaking outside of the Content Gov workflow request. This is just meaning that when a content owner/contributor logs in and wants to update their content on their Topic page, that they won't have the access to post to any other topic page.  If this is accurate, can you provide some context or resources that outlines how we can do this that is OOTB in HRSD?
