Hi @sondhal ,
The “Contact to help us” widget you’re seeing is not something added by a random patch. It’s part of the base ServiceNow Service Portal widget library. These widgets are shipped with the platform and sometimes get surfaced when:
- A plugin is activated (for example, Customer Service Management or Support plugins).
- A portal page update or configuration change brings the widget into view.
- An upgrade or patch refreshes portal templates, which can re‑enable widgets that were hidden before.
That’s why you might suddenly see it in production but not in sub‑prod—it depends on which plugins are active and how the portal pages are configured in each instance.
- Check Service Portal > Pages in your instance to see which page the widget is on.
- Look in Service Portal > Widgets for “Contact to help us.” You’ll see it listed as a base widget.
- Compare prod vs sub‑prod: in sub‑prod, the widget may exist but isn’t placed on any page.
- Review plugin activations: go to System Diagnostics > Plugins and check if any customer service or support‑related plugins were turned on recently.
If you don’t want it
- Don’t delete it (base widgets are part of the platform).
- Instead, remove it from the portal page layout or set it inactive.
- If you need to customize it, clone the widget and edit the clone.

This widget started showing up for us as well in April. We did not make any known changes to activate the widget, so we're not sure why it started appearing. It generated some confusion since it contained OOB content with fake contact info and it also allowed users to create Universal Requests - which we do not currently use. We removed the instance from the search page, but we're still unclear as to why it started showing up in the first place.

Hi @sondhal
Could you please share more screenshots related to where it is appearing currently and how it can be reproduced?
