Content Experience and how to build

Hello ServiceNow community!

We've been looking into some of the newer widget solutions, such as the ones in the Content Experience packs.

I've been trying to Google around and try find some sort of "tutorial" or guides on how to actually set the widgets in the Content Experience/Publish widgets up. Can't seem to find anything in NowLearning about this either.

Does anyone sit on any good examples of how to use these? We just recently upgraded to Employee Center Pro and are looking into microsites and Content Experience widget among other new exciting things. But the (CD) widgets, are still a big questionmark to me.

Any help/tips would be more than welcome.

Regards, Jocke

Hi @Joakim St_ckel ,

To start with ,  Only banner and styled content types are supported at this time. The Use custom HTML feature is also not supported in the banner content type.

Follow the below steps :Create or edit portal and styled content.

Then follow any of these methods to add it to the portal page :Service Portal pagesWidget instances, and Create and edit a page using the Service Portal Designer.

Thank you!

Yes, I've pretty much followed these steps. Helpful to know that some of those are not even available atm. Even though the widgets exists?

I believe I've navigated that the issue may be, that I can only choose between Workspace and Service Portal. Not the ESC portal... I believe this has been the issue the entire time when I've tried to publish something in those widgets. What do I even search for to add the ESC portal, or any other portal for that matter, to this list? This is in the Publish plan.

Ok, nvm. it worked fine now... I must've tried all CD widgets, but the Experience one, and somehow it can navigate and find the page.

Issues I had before, was also not being able to find the Widget Instance. It never appeared before, untill now. We updated the Employee Center + Core + Content Publishing last night, might've been a requirement that was missing from there too.

Hi @Joakim St_ckel,

For content creation and scheduling, please refer to this video Employee Center Academy: Content Experiences and Content Publishing

Few things to check if you are not seeing published content

  1. the portal user meets the audience criteria selected in the schedule, the schedule is active or you have selected specific start date in future (that's when content goes live and appears in the portal)
  2. you are on correct page where widget instance is added, for ex /esc?id=ec_dashboard
  3. you have selected correct widget instance title in schedule content, the widget list in Schedule Content comes from Service Portal > Widget Instance

Please let me know if you still have queries/issues.

If you are looking to build Rich Content (Dynamic Microsites), check out this step by step guide that shows one of the cool use cases - Card Layout with RCE

This is pretty much the exact steps I've been taking. But what I can see, the problem seems to be that only the Service Portal and Workspace are available locations. (See image) How do I add the ESC portal, or any other portal for that matter, to this list?
