Content Experience and how to build

Hello ServiceNow community!

We've been looking into some of the newer widget solutions, such as the ones in the Content Experience packs.

I've been trying to Google around and try find some sort of "tutorial" or guides on how to actually set the widgets in the Content Experience/Publish widgets up. Can't seem to find anything in NowLearning about this either.

Does anyone sit on any good examples of how to use these? We just recently upgraded to Employee Center Pro and are looking into microsites and Content Experience widget among other new exciting things. But the (CD) widgets, are still a big questionmark to me.

Any help/tips would be more than welcome.

Regards, Jocke

Hi @Joakim St_ckel ,

To start with ,  Only banner and styled content types are supported at this time. The Use custom HTML feature is also not supported in the banner content type.

Follow the below steps :Create or edit portal and styled content.

Then follow any of these methods to add it to the portal page :Service Portal pagesWidget instances, and Create and edit a page using the Service Portal Designer.

Could please confirm if ESC portal you mentioned is just something you see in this list Service Portal > Portals, or is it something else?

Are you looking for this page, esc/id=ec_pro_dashboard?

All portals are available under Service Portal > Portals, if you want to filter widgets by page then select page first in the publish plan

In the Portals list, only Service Portal and Workspace were options. But before, applying Service Portal, before updating ESC and ES, the pages in the ESC wouldn't be listed among pages. Neither would the (CD) widgets on pages either.

Updating to the latest releases, solved this. Now, they're listed and works, under the Service Portal choice.

Also, thank you very much for the link regarding the Dynamic Microsites! Was very helpful! Just one quick question (I haven't had too much time yet to invest into this, but will have next week). Have I understood it correctly, that you sort of build portal pages through this? And if so, where do these go? How do I, for instance, find or create this as a portal page with a URL?

Currently, the content built through Rich Content still goes in a widget in the portal/topic page.

You would have to create a portal under Service Portal and assign a homepage for it, then add Rich Content widget in that page.

We have office hours for Dynamic topic microsites (Rich Content), if you are interested to join please let me know your email id and I can send an invite.

hi Joakim,

It sounds like you have successfully placed the content experience widget on your page and want to schedule content to appear inside of it. First, you will want to create the new content unless you have existing content in mind. In either case you must then schedule the content to appear on the widget.

The quickest way to do this is with the Content Publishing > Content Library module. In this module, selecting the content will take you to Streamline Content Authoring which has a Design tab and a Publish tab. In the publish tab you can add a publish plan where you can specify the page and widget where the content will appear. However, keep in mind that if the content is not applicable to the widget, you will not be able to select the widget. For instance the upcoming events(CD) widget can display event content, but not banners. You will also be able to specify the audience that will see the content and if necessary specify a date range when the content would be visible. I also recommend reviewing the following demonstration here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNVmH4MSlcg, starting at 35 minute mark.
