Is it possible to create a news article that links directly to an external URL when viewed?

We're running the latest Employee Center and Content Publishing plugin versions for Vancouver and I wanted to know if there's a way to create a news article using the Content Library & Rich Content Editor that opens to an external URL/source when someone views the article.

There are times where we would like to feature news articles about our employees that come from external sources and it's either difficult or impossible to recreate the content within ServiceNow.

Hello @Ashley Heath

yes, you can call API of external application to get knowledge article data like title, description etc and show in portal.

Below link shows example of adding another SN instance as knowledge source.

Below link shows adding GitHub as search source.

Thank you,

Hi Ash - I have heard some customers say they've created news in SN from external news feeds.  This would require an integration of course.

An alternative would be to to include a button, a link, or a link block in your news article that the employee can click.  You can specify any URL you like, including external ones, in the properties of these elements.  So your News Article would really be a quick summation or preamble with a directive to click the button or link to see more.

Thanks Eric, we have done a mixture of what you're describing and have utilized links in text blocks as well as link blocks and buttons.
