Unable to Search Knowledge Articles and Catalog Item under Child topics

Hello All,

Could someone please help me with an issue in the Employee Portal?

I have the following taxonomy structure:

- Topic A (Parent)
- Topic B (Child of A)
- Topic C (Child of B)
- Topic D (Child of C)

A catalog item and a Knowledge Article are mapped to Topic D.

The issue is that when a user navigates to Topic A and performs a Topic Search, the search does not return the catalog item or the Knowledge Article that are mapped under Topic D.

My expectation is that searching from the parent topic should also return content associated with its child.

Can someone please help me with the same.

Hi @Shrey hurana ,

This is an expected Behavior. From Topic A , you cannot access Topic D Catalog item or the Knowledge Article. Employee Center does not generally perform recursive searches across all descendant topics.

Is it possible to implement the same as this the requirement which customer needs to be implemented as per there process.

Hi  @Shrey hurana 

Generally, whatever is mapped to topics B-D would appear on topic A page anyway.  This should allow you to search from any of those levels.  Please confirm you are using OOB topic pages and widgets.  

For example, in my demo instance, I have "401(k) Plan Enrollment" content mapped to the "Retirement" Topic (also 4 levels down).  This is the only place this particular catalog item is mapped/connected.  However, I can see & search on this from Get Support, Human Resources, Benefits and Retirement topic pages without issue.
