EA Pro TPM/TRM: Is SAM required?

Dear Team,

For EA Pro TPM/TRM, do customers need SAM, or is EA Pro alone sufficient if they maintain catalog/lifecycle data manually (or via import)?

EA Process Guide suggests TPM/TRM may still work without SAM, since models can be created manually (UI/import) when SAM/Discovery aren’t available.

To be clear, can TPM and TRM be used without SAM? 
If yes, are there any differences in available functionality compared to when SAM is enabled?

So, yes, in the end, it's all just tables right?   As long as the data model above is populated, EA TPM Discovery will not care where it came from.   ... complete details available here
