Hello,
Happy Friday !
I wanted to ask if anyone has successfully used the diagram feature in ServiceNow EA ("Enterprise Modelling & Visualisation") ?
I've found no use for the "Architecture Analyzer" but there may be something to the Diagrams you can create.
But the problem I have is the CI relationships it provides when connecting two objects together.
We are using the CSDM 5 Data Model.
On a diagram we have :
- Business Capability connected to a Business Service
- Business Service connected to 4 Business Service Offerings
- Business Service Offering connected to a Service Instance
The CI Relationships are (in order) according to CSDM 5:
- Provided by::Provides
- Ref: "Published as"
- Depends on::Used by
The frustrating thing is that there appears to be no related CI Relationship in the dropdown list in the Diagram tool to link Business Services and Business Service Offerings. It can't be "contained by::contains".
So if we want to use the EA Diagramming feature how do we get it to reference CSDM 5 and how is it properly used? Or is the CI relationship simply left without a value ?
I've seen no use of the "Architecture Analyzer", there is no documentation that states what it is for, or how to use it, there is not even any functionality to the "Analyzer". (Well there is documentation, but again I cannot see any benefit based on what I have read.). I have added a number of different diagram types and you can do nothing with them. It seems a little pointless.
The only other option is the ServiceNow EA "Enterprise Modelling & Visualisation". But again, the documentation is not good and the options within it does not match CSDM 5 data model.
Is there a definitive guide to how to use "Enterprise Modelling & Visualisation" and how do I adjust trying to use CSDM 5 and not having the options within the platform?
Thanks for your patience, I am trying really hard to get benefit from SNOW but starting to feel it's not a good platform for EA, only IT Services. I am hoping and want to be proved wrong.
Thanks again,
Mark
