Why wm_admin role contains catalog_admin role ?

Dear community,

I'm wondering why the wm_admin role contains the catalog_admin role.

  • What is the rationale ?
  • Can it be safely removed from the list of roles contained by wm_admin ?

Best regards

There's an integration between FSM and Request management, In case wm_admin users want to manage catalogs related to work requests/orders they can do that with the help of the catalog _admin role. and Yes, you can remove the child cataog_admin role from wm_admin but it will be a global change as the users with the wm_admin role will lose catalog_admin access. Instead of removing it from the parent role try to remove the child role from individual users as per your requirement.

Hi @midjoule ,

Do not touch the OOTB role what i would suggest.

You can create a custom role and get rid of  the contained roles from the related list.

For example i have admin role and this role has many roles contained in it, what i can do is , i can select whatever roles make sense and assign those roles to the custom made role.

Hey Midjoule,

https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/sandiego-field-service-management/page/product/field-service-mana...

Check out that link.

Also, https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/sandiego-field-service-management/page/product/planning-and-polic...

Those are the two processes within FSM that require the catalog_admin role specifically, that are documented. There may be other requirements baked within the offering.

So the rationale would be, to perform those funcitons, a user with the wm_admin role, would have the catalog_admin role, and can execute those activities.

Hope that clarifies.
