Hi Everyone !
I want to share my experience about passing ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist — Risk and Compliance (CIS-RC) exam .I have divided the article into 3 parts Before exam ,Exam Day and After Exam.
Before Exam
How to Register for the exam?
To register for any ServiceNow mainline certification you need a VOUCHER and to get a voucher for this particular exam you need to attend a two days ServiceNow virtual classroom training of the below course:
- Risk and Compliance Implementation
Once you have gone through the training and you have the voucher ,you can go to Kryterion Webassessor web site and register for the exam.
You can register for an on-site exam at an official Kryterion testing center, or online, using a mandatory external webcam. If you are taking an online exam this Guide "PreparingForYourExam.pdf" can help you while setting up the camera.
How to Prepare for the exam?
Exam Scope:
- Get an idea of the 4 core ServiceNow GRC applications
- Policy and Compliance
- Risk
- Audit
- Vendor Risk(Not part of exam scope but basic idea will help)
- GRC Architecture
- GRC Packages
- Core GRC Roles
- Entity
- Entity Types
- Entity Classes
- Authority Document
- Citations
- Control Objective
- Policies
- Controls
- Risk Framework
- Risk Statement
- Risk Scoring and Risk Criteria
- Risks
- Risk Library
- Engagements
- Audit Testing
- GRC Reporting
- Miscellaneous Topic
- Issue Management
- Policy Exception Management
- Basics of Performance Analytics
Once you complete the training̣, you are provided with a participation guide ,so please go through that properly and perform all the lab tasks in your Personal Developer Instance.Make sure you go through the ServiceNow GRC Product Documentation and release notes before taking the exam.
Practice! Practice! Practice!
Exam Day - D-Day
- If you are taking Online exam
- Make sure the software is installed.
- Make sure your bio metric is done at least two days in advance.
- Make sure your camera setup is ready before the exam.
- Make sure there is nothing obstructing the camera view.
- Make sure there is no study material or any sort of gadgets in the exam area.
Stay calm and focused and believe in yourself.
After Exam
Exam Experience
90 minutes were allotted to complete the exam, with 45 multiple choice questions. No hardcopy or online materials may be referenced during the exam. ServiceNow doesn't communicate on the percentage of correct answers required to pass the exam. After the exam, you'll receive immediate feedback on your results (pass/fail), and will receive your PDF certificate via email.
Topics to focus based on my TEST
- There were around 5-6 questions based on roles that are required to access certain functionality.
- There were around 3-4 questions based the concept of entity.
- There were around 4-5 questions around risk ,control and policies lifecycle.
- Some questions were based on the platform capabilities like Update sets, workflow etc.
- Questions around audit management lifecycle.
- There were around 1-2 questions based on GRC dashboards.
Sample Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
- Do you have any Mock Test?
I am planning to create a FREE mock test soon and will share in the community.
- Concerns about delta exams
As we all know ServiceNow has changed it's recertification process. From London release, ServiceNow has moved to a “delta” program. As a result:
- If you were certified after January 1, 2017, you only need to take a much shorter delta exam to stay current.
- If you are new to a product line, then you should take the pre-requisite courses and then take the full exam at any time. After that, you will only need to take the delta exam during each subsequent release to stay current.
- If you don't complete a required delta certification, you will have to re-take the full certification exam.
- Delta exam will only be required when a product line contains new features.
- Delta certifications are much shorter with only 5-20 questions and you'll be able to re-take them should you fail one.
- What else you need (Recommended Knowledge)?
- ServiceNow Fundamentals
- ServiceNow Implementation Methodology (SIM) Fundamentals (eLearning)
- ServiceNow Platform Implementation
- System Administration Advanced
- Certified System Administrator
- Automated Test Framework
- Knowledge Management Fundamentals
- Performance Analytics Essentials
- Service Portal Fundamentals
- What else you need (Additional Knowledge)?
- Six (6) months field experience participating in ServiceNow deployment projects or maintaining ServiceNow instances
- Participation in at least two ServiceNow deployment projects
- General familiarity with industry terminology, acronyms, and initialism
Conclusions
As we all know ServiceNow applications always deliver a great experience so I would highly recommend this application if you are fed up of using those spreadsheets to manage your risk and compliance.
There are lot of ServiceNow Certifications that you can try but if you are specifically interested in GRC Application then this certification is for you.
I believe knowledge has more precedence over any certification so always keep learning and always remember "A single sheet of paper can't decide my future".

Hello,
Nice article. Although, I personally don't agree with you posting a screenshot of your certification as that's not really necessary and just further pushes the latest template out there for people to abuse. And also not really a fan of "mock" tests created by people, but...to each their own.
Best of luck!

The architecture is very important. Make sure you know your tables and architecture and understand how they are extended (m2m or direct), make sure you know what different roles can do and make sure you do the audit online first.
