Authority document

There are two oob fields available on Authority document- Approver and reviewer but there is no workflow defined on AD. Does any know what is the purpose of those approver and reviewer fields? Because I have a requirement to enable approvals on Authority Document record.

You are right in saying "there is no workflow defined on AD" . Main purpose for the "Approver" and "Reviewer" fields is to represent responsible parties in the document lifecycle but do not enforce a mandatory workflow by default. Custom workflows or manual processes usually leverage these fields to complete document review and approval steps which you can use for your use case.

However to understand the purpose of Approver and Reviewer fields:
Approver: The person or group responsible for giving formal approval to the Authority Document, signifying that the document meets required standards or compliance criteria.

Reviewer: The individual responsible for reviewing the Authority Document for accuracy, completeness, or compliance before it reaches the approver.
