Greetings,
I have a specific question on 'Policy Exception' workflow:
When policy exception is requested (& approved) for control record then that control is considered 'exempt' for given period and it keeps the control in 'Compliant' state.
Q: With above logic in mind, what's the outcome of an approved 'Policy Exception' for issue record? What are the benefits of using 'Policy Exception' against 'Issue' record?
Thank you for your comments 🙂

This community post's accepted answer sort of touches on the benefit of an exception with regard to an issue. It basically works as a "pause" for the issue until it can be remediated. https://www.servicenow.com/community/grc-forum/issue-management-life-cycle-clarification/m-p/1341592

The control is considered compliant with the approved policy exception, however, the issue state will not change until it is manually updated by the assigned user.
