Create Regulatory Alerts from an RSS Feed

Hello everyone,

I was curious if it is possible to create regulatory alerts based on items that come from an RSS Feed. If I use the documentation to configure an RSS feed such as (https://iapp.org/rss/united-states-dashboard-digest) is there any way to setup in Regulatory Change Management and have these items automatically generate a regulatory alert?

I have records from the above link that populate the Feed Request Response Table. However, I do not know how to access the Regulatory Feed, that is mentioned in RCM documentation and how to take items from the feed and convert them or create a regulatory alert based on the items in the feed.

Hi @adamfrankowski ,

Set up the RSS feeds data in the Regulatory Change Management application installed in your instance. Install the RSS feeds plugin for activating RSS feeds data in the Regulatory Change Management application.

Before you begin

Prerequisite for activating the GRC: Regulatory Change Management integration with RSS Feeds plugin: The Regulatory Change Management application should be installed first in your instance.

Role required: sn_grc_reg_change.it_admin, sn_grc_reg_change.manager, sn_grc_reg_change.user

About this task

RSS (RDF Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication) feeds are Web feeds that allow users and applications to access updates to websites in a standardized and computer-readable format. Websites use RSS feeds to publish frequently updated information, such as blog entries, news headlines, and episodes of audio and video series.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to Application > Regulatory Change Management > RSS Feeds to fetch RSS feeds data in the Regulatory Change Management application.
  2. Download and install the GRC: Regulatory Change Management integration with RSS Feeds plugin from the store.
Once the GRC: Regulatory Change Management integration with RSS Feeds plugin is installed, the RSS Feeds module is displayed under the Regulatory Change Management application module in the UI. The following submodules are displayed under RSS Feeds.
  3. From the Feed Setup module, complete the following steps.
    1. Select the RCM RSS Flow in the Flow Designer UI page.
    2. Click Done and click Activate to activate the flow.
The RCM IT Admin schedules the RCM RSS Flow to run on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis and sets up the time for the flow.
  4. Click the Connection & Credential Aliases module and click Create New Connection & Credential under Related Links.
  5. Enter the connection information in the Create Connection and Credential record form as outlined in the table and click Create.
    Connection & Credential Aliases module
    Field Description
Name Connection name in the text format, for example, Federal Reserve, FDA (Food and Drug Administration).
Connection URL Connection URL from where the feeds are fetched, for example, https://www.rbi.org.in/pressreleases_rss.xml
A new connection is created and listed under the Connection & Credential Aliases related list.
  6. Enter information in the Provider Taxonomy Configuration to set up the provider taxonomy configuration.
  7. Enter information in the Feed Sources new record form as outlined in the table.
    1. Click Submit in the Feed Source record form to create a new feed source record.
  8. In the Feed Request Response module, view the response from the RSS feeds sources or click New to create a new feed request response.
    1. On the form, fill in the fields.
      Feed Request Response form
      Field Description
RSS Feed Source RSS feed source for receiving the feeds.
Response Response to the RSS feeds.
    2. Click Submit.
A new Feed Request Response record is created.

Result

Once the feed source is set up and the RCM RSS Flow gets executed at a scheduled time, the RSS feeds data is received in the Feed Request Response table. The RSS feeds data parsed from the Feed Request Response table is displayed in the Regulatory Feeds table.

Thank you for responding @Community Alums! I am aware of how to set up the RSS process. However, I can see items are populating in the Feed Request Responses table but then they are not populating into the Regulatory feed/Regulatory feed alerts are not being created based on the default flow, Pull RSS Feed to Regulatory Change.

Hi Adam,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your observation on RSS feed connection setup.

We would like to inform, upon internal replication the Regulatory feeds from IAPP source provider has been successfully received into the application. Enclosed below are the screenshots for your reference.
