Hi ,
I have a requirement where my client doesn't want to show the Assigned to names in the Activity log. Like, if an Assigned To comments, the update gets captured in the Activity log with below details :
Here, the above view is when I am logged in as an End User. And Peter Stevens is the Assigned To person. I do not want the end user to see the name of the Assigned to person, as this may cause the end users to directly communicate to the Assigned to person via company directory and cause disturbance.
Regards,
Sharat

Hi Sharat,
Worknotes are meant for this purpose only. Please use Work notes when you don't want the end users to view the comments, else you should use (Additional Comment) which is customer communication in your case.
This is a built in functionalityof service now and is supported well without any customisation.
So you will have 2 fields.. one to talk to the customer and one for internal communications.
Regards,
Avinash

Hi Avinash,
I assume you didn't understand my query. I want to show the comments but do
not want the name of the Assigned To person to be visible to end users.
Regards,
Sharat

Have you tried making the Assigned To field non-readable to end users (e.g. add the itil role to task.assigned_to). They should not see it on the form nor the activity formatter if they don't have read access to it.

HI Sharat,
As far as I know, there is no way to make the activity formatter anonymous. The only way would be to completely remove it from the form. You may want to consider using a second view (e.g. ESS/Self-Service) where the activity formatter is absent, but the default view has it, which your ITIL users can see and reference.
