Regulation - Parent > Child

This is primarily a proof of concept to explore its feasibility.

Is it possible for a regulation to have sub-regulations linked to it? For instance, we have Contoso Regulation 600, which is associated with related regulations such as:

  • Contoso Regulation 610

  • Contoso Regulation 620

  • Contoso Regulation 621

It might be simpler to list each sub-regulation separately. Based on how it sounds, this approach may not be ideal. However, I’m curious whether it’s even possible.

The regulation has two records - the Authority Document and the Citation. The Authority Document is generally the placeholder/grouping record for all the details of the regulation. This record cannot be set up in a hierarchal structure. One Authority document record cannot be the child of another Authority Document record.

However, the children of Authority Doc records can be set up hierarchically.

If you want to know the compliance percentage of the total Contoso Regulation 600, then you could set up 610, 620, etc as citations and then the other detailed requirements as children citations.

Option 2 is to do as you have stated and set 610, 620 as Authority doc records. You just wouldn't be able to see a total compliance score for the whole thing.
