The article text is distorted.

I uploaded the policy in the Compliance Workspace. After approval, the article is published; however, the text appears distorted or garbled, even though it looks correct in the backend task.
What could be the possible reason for this issue, and how can it be resolved?

Unfortunately the import of .docx documents is not reliable. Documents need to have very limited and restricted formatting options. But then it will work fine.... Until you want to print it....

Our way to get it going:

  • supported image formats: jpeg, jpg, jpe, jfi, jif, jfif, png, gif, bmp, webp

!!! ALL OTHER IMAGE FORMATS ARE NOT SUPPORTED !!!

  • importing of embedded objects will not work

  • Links (url or within the document will work after importing flawlessly.

  • tables – can be an issue, especially when spanning a page break, even worse when a single cell is spanning a page break

  • paper size – actual experience at current the import functionality of DIN A4 format: ServiceNow is handling every input as a paper size ‘US Letter’.
If you have a ‘A4’ format this can lead to formatting issues (paragraphs, etc.).

  • bullet (points) – even though ServiceNow says you can use standard bullet points – to my experience with .docx imports – this is simply not true at all. The only bullet imported correctly is the one you see here in this list.

  • It is recommended to run all editing in MS Word before importing. Editing of imported documents in ServiceNow (TinyMCE) editor can be very ‘painful’ and frustrating.
