Hi all,

 

How the OOB process of hardware asset shipment works? 

The goal is to manage the shipment of a laptop until it is delivered.

OOB hardware shipment in ServiceNow (HAM):

  1. Request & PO

    • User requests a laptop from the catalog
    • Purchase Order is created - asset state On Order
  2. Vendor ships laptop

    • Shipment happens outside ServiceNow
    • No OOB courier tracking (tracking number/ETA not stored)
  3. Receiving

    • Laptop arrives at warehouse or IT location
    • Asset record created/updated
    • State becomes Received
  4. Stockroom

    • Asset moved to a stockroom
    • State becomes In Stock
    • Location and custody are tracked
  5. Dispatch to user

    • IT ships or hands over laptop to the user
    • Asset is assigned to user
    • State becomes In Use

Delivery is considered complete when the asset is assigned to the user

Hi all,

 

My scenario is different because it's not about procuring a laptop (asset in general) asked via catalog item for example by some internal users.

In fact my scenario involves the massive import of assets and then the management of the shipment of the single asset to the external client that bought the asset itself. E.g. 50 laptops have been imported in assets table, then I define a new contract with a new client (using CSM) and because of it I have to deliver that asset to the client, tracking the shipment.

 

How can I manage it with OOB features? ITAM is the module anyway?
