HAM Support for Hardware Request Fulfillment

Hi All,

We want to publish a few hardware assets, such as monitors, desktops, and iPads, as Service Catalog items so users can request them.

Does Hardware Asset Management (HAM) provide this functionality out of the box? Specifically, is there a generic fulfillment flow available, or do we need to create custom fulfillment flows for each catalog item?

Hi @pramodkumar,

Publish the models straight from the Hardware Asset record instead of building catalog items from scratch. HAM ships with a generic OOB fulfillment path for exactly this, you don't need a custom flow per item.

Here's what happens under the hood, and what to check before it works:

• Publishing a model to catalog creates a catalog item and auto-populates the Model field on it.
• An OOB business rule on the Request table checks that field and sets Sourceable to true on the parent request.
• That triggers the Standard Hardware Asset Request flow (built in Flow Designer), which handles sourcing, whether to pull from a local stockroom, run a transfer order, or kick off a purchase order, right through to asset deployment.
• For local stock to show up in sourcing, the requester's location has to roll up to the stockroom's location, and the manufacturer/company record needs the Vendor checkbox checked.

One thing to watch: the platform's model is one catalog item per hardware model, not a single generic item covering monitors, desktops, and iPads together. Attaching the Standard Hardware Asset Request flow to a hand-built multi-model catalog item is where people run into trouble with the sourcing UI not fully loading. Publish each model separately and let native asset sourcing do the rest.

Thank you @Vikram Reddy . Is there any generic catalog for non standard assets? Also, I see there are expense lines ? can we utilize them for chargeback process? How are those expense line created and I see all of them are in processed state
