Hi Team,
We are using basic ITAM which comes with ITSM plugin , HAM PRo and SAM PRo are not enabled.
We have two countries using the environment like USA and Europe.
Now as OOB functionality when any CI/Asset is discovered, model id is mapped based on Manufacturer and model name. If there is existing record of model it attaches to discovered CI/Asset. If no record is found new Hardware model is created.
Now the issue is CI/Asset are mapped to models irrespective of their countries. Single model contain Assets of both the countries.
We want a segregation here:-
1) IF i create two models with same details like "Dell Precision 3591", how can i differentiate it based on country. I can see company field which we can use for this.
2) Once 1 is done, how to make sure that CI/Assets discovered in USA attaches to USA model and CI/Assets discovered Europe attaches to Europe model.
Or is there any OOB approach which does this automatically.

Hi,
Why would you want to differentiate if the model is the same ?
Why not add location info to the discovered CI/Assets instead ?

Now US is publishing the model with some details like cost and have their own workflow.
And Later if Europe or UK wants to do the same with different model configuration and different workflow. Hence for this cases its better to keep separate models for different countries which will contain their own data.

Then I would put that information in the short description of the model, or possibly add a location field or other custom field onto the model to enable this differentiation.
There is no OOB feature to support this requirement to my knowledge.
I would assume that there are some differences between the models, such as different model numbers to separate if they have different specs depending on the country where they are sold, that could also be something to look into.
