Hello Community,
I have a requirement to handle RITM state changes using Flow Designer based on the approver’s action.
🔹 Requirement
When the approver approves the RITM
→ RITM State should move to “Work in Progress”
When the approver rejects the RITM
→ RITM State should move to “Closed Incomplete”
Best Regards
Bharath

Hello @bharathkumar Da ,
You can create a flow over the sysapproval_approver table and with the 'approval' field [sysapproval] you have the reference over the request/entity where approval is needed.
In this case, retrieve RITM which parent is approval record.
Should look similar as follows:

you can handle this in your Flow itself after "Ask for Approval" flow action
Check the sysapproval_approver record for this RITM using Lookup Record and then update RITM
where are you stuck?

Hello @bharathkumar Da, this looks like a simple flow. If you are quite new to ServiceNow then I recommend to complete Flow designer micro certification course from ServiceNow University. It will give you a proper understanding of how Flow Designer works.
For your requirement you can follow below approach -
-
Create a Flow and attach it to the your Catalog Item (Trigger: Catalog Item Requested).
-
Add an Ask for Approval action.
- Approvers: choose your required group/user.
-
Add an If condition after the approval step:
- Condition: Approval → is → Approved
-
If Approved → Update Record (RITM)
- Table: sc_req_item
- Record: Current RITM
- Set State = Work in Progress
-
Else (Rejected) → Update Record (RITM)
- Table: sc_req_item
- Record: Current RITM
- Set State = Closed Incomplete
Please mark my response as Correct and Helpful if it assists you.
Thanks,
Ashish Parab
