Hello everyone, we are going to implement HAM for our customer. Can anyone help me to know the prerequisites that need to be checked before installing the HAM pro plugin?

@Sharath807 Before deploying the ServiceNow Hardware Asset Management (HAM) Professional plugin, ensure your instance meets specific application dependencies, data requirements, and licensing entitlements.
verify the following key prerequisites:
The person installing the plugin must have the admin role in ServiceNow and you must have the official HAM Pro subscription purchased for your organization.
When you install the HAM application from the ServiceNow Store, the following plugins will either be automatically installed or must be enabled prior: sn_am_common, com.snc.cmdb.class.models, com.snc.asset_management.hardware.normalization, com.snc.procurement, com.snc.geomaps.
As per best practice:
Request the plugin from the ServiceNow Store and install it on a Sub-Production (DEV or UAT) instance first.
Only install "Load Demo Data" on development instances for testing purposes. Do not load demo data in production.

Hey @Sharath807,
This is the official "Ask a Ranger: Hardware Asset Management" video series. It walks you through everything from plugin installation to advanced life‑cycle flows.

the main prerequisite before implementing HAM Pro is having a trustworthy CMDB and asset foundation in place. CMDB as the single source of truth for hardware assets and lifecycle tracking.
Here are the key prerequisites ServiceNow recommends validating before HAM Pro implementation:
- CMDB health and Identification/Reconciliation rules
- Discovery or inventory source readiness (SCCM, Intune, JAMF, Discovery, etc.)
- Asset lifecycle process definition (procure → receive → deploy → retire/dispose)
- Hardware models and model categories setup
- Stockroom and inventory process readiness
- User, location, department, and cost center data quality
- Procurement flow readiness (Requisition → PO → Receiving → Asset creation)
- Asset and CI relationship strategy
- Roles and access model for asset teams
- Data normalization strategy for manufacturers/models
focusing first on:
“Visibility into the asset estate” and “inventory lifecycle processes” before advanced automation
Implement HAM in phases (Crawl → Walk → Run maturity model) instead of trying to automate everything initially.
Also ensure these plugins/foundations exist before activating HAM Pro:
- ITSM
- CMDB
- Asset Management base functionality
- Discovery/integration source (recommended)
HAM installs many lifecycle workflows, stockroom features, normalization capabilities, and procurement-related components with the sn_hamp plugin.
A practical implementation order most aligned :
CMDB → Discovery → Asset Foundation → Procurement → HAM Pro Automation
