Can someone help me to know about HAM/SAM profile is good to opt for ServiceNow CMDB person or not?

 

Is there any impact on CMDB career or good to opt for 6 month project?

Choosing to pursue HAM/SAM will be perfect for you considering that you know CMDB. The two are highly interconnected, and your knowledge of CMDB will put you way ahead of others.

Asset to CI linkage is the connection point between HAM/SAM and CMDB. In the CMDB, a CI describes what the asset is and how it is associated with services. On the other hand, an asset in HAM/SAM is described by its financial and lifecycle information including purchase, warranty, contracts, stage, state and software entitlements/license management. With proper integration and reconciliation, both will provide one consistent source of truth on IT operations and IT asset management.

This is one of the reasons that have made many people with ITOM/Discovery background shift to HAM/SAM. Considering the fact that you have knowledge of CI classes, relationships and reconciliation, it will be easy for you to learn things like hardware lifecycle management, software normalization and license optimization.
