I'm going to do a series about Bulk Loading HR Cases. There is a bulk loader tool in the platform for creating multiple HR Cases in a single step. Let's start by doing an overview on how it works.
Click the Bulk Case Requests link from the left navigation menu and then New to set up a new request. First add details about the case itself. I picked Direct Deposit Inquiry as a HR Service and left Create parent case marked as false.
Then choose a pool of users. You can do this through uploading an Excel file with the information or by using filters or criteria to find people based on data already in the system.
For my example, I filtered the list of users with the first name of James and saved it. Then I triggered the create case process to generate a new case for each of my 3 users.
Looking at the results brings up one thing I've run into on HRSD implementations in regards to the Bulk Case Creation process. Each case has basically the same set of details. The Short Descriptions of the cases are all pulled from the HR Service name only. If I were to have selected one of the Excel templates to use in the upload process, there are only user_name or email options to define the pool of users, but nothing to define the case Short Descriptions.
Moving forward here, I'm going to look at coming up with a possible solution to help this by incorporating custom upload templates that include unique details that will populate in each case record.
