Hi Everyone ,

I have a quick question. I need to create a clickable link that opens in a new tab when the user clicks on the "Salesforce Access" option. I know this could be done using Quick Links, but I’d prefer not to use that method due to specific requirements. Could anyone suggest the best alternative approach to achieve this functionality?

Definitely need more details to be provided here first, as there are multiple options depending on what exactly you need.

If you are talking about Taxonomy Topic page but don't want to use Quick Links - you can create "Content Item" with a link to internal or external resource, it will look as a "card", similar to Knowledge Articles and Catalog Items, but will behave similar to a Quick Link and open in a new tab.

If you are talking about tiles / widgets on a page, e.g. Homepage, then you have plenty of options:

  • Quick Links widget (by default)
  • Quick Links widget with just one link added and styled with CSS in any way you need, e.g. like a big styled button
  • HTML widget where you can add whatever you want, including a link that opens in a new tab
  • plenty of options using Content Publishing, in case you have Employee Center Pro
  • not mentioning a custom widget option, though I would go with it as the last option, as there are plenty of OOTB available options.

If you are talking about an expandable Header menu, then

  • you can add simple Menu Item with URL type and an internal or external link
  • or, if you mainly use Taxonomy (and auto-generated menu based on Taxonomy), then you can leverage Advanced Portal Navigation feature (available OOTB with Employee Center) which allows you to compose a mixed Header menu that contains Taxonomy + simple Menu, so that you can have an expandable menu primarily based on Taxonomy while adding somewhere "in the middle" your simple Menu Item which is of URL type and opens an internal or external link in a new tab.

Hi @mounikaravu

Another way to link various apps is to use App Launcher and App Launcher widget.

Below are some details: More details you can find here

To access applications from the App Launcher in ServiceNow, especially within the Employee Center Pro, here's how it works and how you can configure it:

The App Launcher in ServiceNow is a feature within the Employee Center Pro that allows users to access all their assigned applications with a single click. It provides a centralized, user-friendly interface for launching apps, similar to dashboards like Okta or Azure AD—but integrated directly into ServiceNow.

  1. Navigate to Employee Center Pro
Go to your ServiceNow instance and open the Employee Center Pro portal.

  2. Use the App Launcher Widget
On the homepage, you'll find the App Launcher widget. It displays:

    • Recently used apps
    • Favorite apps
    • All apps assigned to the user
  3. Search or Browse Apps

    • You can search for apps using the AI Search bar.
    • A dedicated "Applications" tab appears in search results, showing only the apps you have access to.
  4. Click to Launch
Simply click on any app icon to launch it. If SSO is configured (e.g., with Azure AD or Okta), it will open seamlessly.
