How can I make a Human Resources group not able to be Assigned To?

I have a situation where I have several HR Groups that have a parent group called HRSS USA. All of these groups have group Type = human_resources. The original purpose of the HRSS USA group was to give regional leadership visibility and reporting capabilities across all groups without being in each specific HR Group. We also role access down from this group to the child groups. Now, we are seeing HR Agents assigning Cases to the HRSS USA group in error. Is there a way to keep this group with its access, but have it not show up in the Assigned To Group field?

Thank you.

Is there any reason why the group HRSS USA needs to be of type human_resources? You could remove this type from the group, or edit the dictionary override on the "Assignment Group" field for the HR Case table to exclude this particular group (not preferred).

I was under the impression that the Group Type value of human_resources provided some level of access to the HR SD module. I will try removing it and see if the users in it experience any reduction in functionality.

@Kerry Ferrell I'm not aware of any access being controlled by this value, it's generally used for reference qualifiers on group selection. Access to HRSD is via roles, or in the case of COE security a combination of role and group membership, but the group type is not relevant.
