Understand What HRSD Is

Before jumping into configuration, understand:

 

  • What HRSD is used for (employee experience, case management, onboarding, etc.)
  • How it differs from other ServiceNow modules (e.g., ITSM)
  • The key components: HR Case Management, Employee Center, Lifecycle Events, Knowledge Management, HR Services, and HR Workflows

 

Hands-On Practice Start configuring:

  • HR Services and HR Case types
  • HR Templates and Assignment Rules
  • HR Case creation through portal or agent workspace
  • Set up a basic Lifecycle Event like Onboarding
  • Create HR Catalog items using record producers or catalog builder
  • Explore Employee Center (ESC)

 

Understand the difference between Employee Center and Employee Center Pro

  • Customize the Employee Center portal
  • Add knowledge articles, HR services, quick links
  • Key Topics to Learn in HRSD
  • Key Concepts HR Case Management HR Services, Templates, Skills, AssignmentLifecycle EventsEvents, Activities, Onboarding Flow, HR Knowledge Creating & Publishing Articles, User Roles (e.g., sn_hr_core, sn_hr_case_reader)ESC Portal Widgets

 

Practice Real Scenarios

Try implementing:

 

  • End-to-end Onboarding Lifecycle
  • Custom HR Service with approvals
  • Use Virtual Agent for HR-related interactions
