Remainder Notifications

Hi
I have a Target Day field[ which displays the final day the request should be completed]  on the Request/ ticket. Automated Notifications should be sent to the Processor when 50%, 75% and 100 % of  Target time has completed.
For some Reason SLA's cannot used. How can I achieve this? Please pour your Insights

Why can't SLAs be used? Is the table a non-task table?
