Unable to select Work Notes as Filter Condition

Our users can pull the Work Notes field into a list view in both native view and agent workspace. They can also add work notes, so they do have access to the field. 

However, they cannot select the Work Notes field as a filter condition. We would like to be able to search Work Notes Contains a specific phrase.

 

Any ideas on why we cannot use the Work Notes field in a filter condition, or ideas to make it available?

Since work notes is journal type field, you may not be able to apply direct filter on it. However, you can do a more broader search by selecting keyword contains filter.

As stated earlier, work notes is a journal record and not a specified field on the record, hence its not possible. Furthermore, what would actual be the business case for this requirement?
