Hi @KaranamT,

Can Read refers to being able to view and search.

Can Contribute controls who can create and update existing records.

Here is a useful link to the documentation: https://www.servicenow.com/docs/r/servicenow-platform/knowledge-management/user-access-knowledge.htm...

Hope this helps! If you found it useful, feel free to leave a 👍 Kudos. If it answered your question, accepting it as a solution helps others find the answer too.

Hello @KaranamT ,

In Knowledge Management, Can Read and Can Contribute are user criteria settings that control what users can do inside a Knowledge Base.

Differentiating further :

Feature

Can Read

Can Contribute

Primary Action

View / Read articles

Create, edit, modify, and retire articles

Read Permission

Only grants viewing access

Implicitly grants read access to the KB

Granularity

Can be applied at the KB or individual article level

Applied at the Knowledge Base level

If my response helped mark as helpful and accept the solution.
