What's best practice to assign the approver role to approver if the client only has HRSD license?

Seems ServiceNow will have additional approver license fee if we assign the approver_user role to the approver directly, but do not charge it if we assign the sn_hr_core.manager to the approver, actually sn_hr_core.manager include approver_user role, not sure what's the best practice to assign the approver role to approver if the client only has HRSD license?

That is my understanding from your question, but always get that answer from your ServiceNow rep as well. You can't come back to me that you now have to pay for something I said you didn't (or the other way around). If it was your SN rep, it may help.

Since these kinds of questions have financial consequences, you can best ask your ServiceNow account rep.
Managers normally are the only ones to approve something, so you are covered by assigning the manager role. Any other users will require separate licenses and ServiceNow will come to collect if they are used.

Thanks Mark, just clarified, if only approver_user assigned, it will calculate as business stakeholder license, but if assign another HR related role to the user, the user will calculate in HRSD license model.

Hi @MiaoZhan ,

Its straight forward, if any consumption of role 'approver_user ' is done to any user / group there will be a cost for it for sure.. no escape

so for hrsd module  > sn_hr_core.manager already has the approver role to it. So if any users consuming 'sn_hr_core.manager ' will be considered as approval user and hence you have to pay for it.

if you need you can create a seprate role as that of 'sn_hr_core.manager ' and exclude > approval role to it
