If you have recently upgraded to Eureka, you may notice that your user interface looks strikingly similar to the classic UI11 design — that's because it is.

For instances upgraded prior to Eureka Patch 2, the UI14 interface is not activated by default. These will retain their existing user interface. However, administrators can quickly activate the UI14 plugin for these upgraded instances:

  1. Navigate to System Definition > Plugins.
  2. Right-click the plugin name on the list and select Activate/Upgrade.
(If the plugin requires other plugins, the plugins and activation status are listed.)
  3. Click Activate.

Hi Kim,

Regarding one of your tidbits above, I haven't figured out how to determine how to enable this functionality:

"enable a link that allows users to switch between UI14 and UI11"

Can you verify whether it can be done, and if so, how?

Regards,

Bob

Hi Bob,

Did you try this (this is from our product documentation😞

Activating the UI11 - Navpage layout with multiple panes plugin enables the UI11 interface. If desired, an administrator can enable the UI link in the banner:

  1. Enter sys_properties.list in the navigation filter.
  2. Set the glide.ui11.show_switch_link property to true (default value).
This property shows the link in the banner frame that allows a user to switch between UI11 and the classic interface.

Thanks!

Hi Kim,

You may want to update your post because it seems that UI14 is now enabled by default.   At least, that's what we see in our Test environnement that went for an upgrade on yesterday.   We were running Calgary and upgraded to Eureka patch 5.   The UI14 was activated by default.   I guess Service Now may have changed this option starting from Eureka patch 5.

I did appreciate your post to quickly find where to verify this option.

Steve

Hi Kim,

Thanks for your quick reply!   Yes, I gave that a try to no avail.

I suspect that option only works to switch between the classic UI and UI11, but not from 11 to 14.

And to Steve's point re: I too upgrade our development instance from Calgary to Eureka Patch 5 yesterday, and it was not necessary to activate UI14.

Thanks,
Bob

Hello, I believe that instances that are specifically upgraded to Eureka and Eureka Patch 1 will encounter this problem. But if you upgraded to anything Eureka Patch 2 and above (such as Eureka 5), UI14 will be enabled by default. Thanks!

Hi Bob, I believe you are correct about this being a link between UI11 and classic UI only. I've updated the article. Thank you!

Hi guys,

I'm having a strange issue, here. I have Eureka Patch 8 installed and some users still see the UI11, even though the UI14 plugin is active. I had them refresh their cache, log off/log on and they are still with the old UI whatever the browser I try to use...

How can I help them ?

Thanks,

Christian

Hi Christian,

Try this

glide.ui.doctypeEnables or disables the UI14 interface. Available starting with the Eureka release.
  • Type: true | false
  • Default value: true (for new instances starting with the Eureka release)
  • Location: System Property [sys_properties] table

I have seen scenarios where this property doesn't behave ideally. So check if its present in your instance and has the right value, if not then create/modify it.
