If you’re a regular visitor to the community, you’ve already heard how ServiceNow certification gives you skills that help your team to succeed, increase your influence, and enhance your career prospects. Now, a new survey by IDC, one of the world’s leading analyst firms, proves the point. They surveyed 400 ServiceNow professionals just like you, and here’s what you told them.
Helping your team to succeed
Let’s start with how certification helps you to power the success of your team. According to the survey, certified ServiceNow professionals are 38% more productive, and that number rises to 80% if you’re a certified implementer. In fact, IDC’s report says that when you’re certified, you perform essential work faster and with less errors.
Why? According to IDC, one big reason is that you’re more likely to understand and follow ServiceNow leading practices and work smarter. And the survey numbers back that up. For example, certified developers are 40% more likely to use the ServiceNow Automated Test Framework, and certified administrators are 58% less likely to escalate ServiceNow incidents due to a lack of knowledge. The report goes on to say that ServiceNow leading practices remove implementation barriers, accelerate user adoption, and make your projects more likely to succeed.
And it also points out that because certified ServiceNow professionals get essential work done faster and better, it frees up their time and energy to make a greater contribution and make the most of the platform. For example, if you’re certified, you’re 80% more likely to include a knowledge transfer step when you complete a project. In other words, because you work smarter, you now have the time and skills to make things better.
Increasing your influence
Which brings me to the next point. Certification increases your influence. For example, the IDC survey says that certified developers are 30% more influential, and that certified implementers are 70% more likely to have brokered communication between executive stakeholders. So why does certification increase your influence? According to IDC, when you’re certified, you typically work on higher value tasks and take on responsibilities beyond your official role. And, of course, certification is an official recognition that you have great skills and experience. For example, the survey says that certified implementers have typically worked on 80% more projects than non-certified implementers.
Enhancing your career prospects
Finally, let’s talk about the impact on your career. When you’re more productive, more valuable, and more influential, it gives your career a major boost. And, once again, the IDC survey backs this up. It found that 69% of certified ServiceNow professionals said that certification has made a positive difference to their career. In fact, people who are certified typically get promoted 3 to 12 months faster. And if you’re certified, you’re likely to be better paid as well. Survey respondents who said that certification helped their career also reported 23% higher total compensation on average.
IDC sums up the benefits of certification by saying, “High-performing IT organizations need high-performing IT professionals. There is simply no replacement for people with the right skills.” And with ServiceNow certification, you have the right skills.
