Hello, ServiceNow Community!

I'm Selva Arun — a ServiceNow Developer from Massachusetts, specializing in ITOM Discovery, CMDB, Certificate Management, Integration, and ITSM. Being named a ServiceNow MVP for the first time is honestly still sinking in. After earning Rising Star recognition in 2024 and 2025, this feels like the next chapter of a journey I never planned but wouldn't trade for anything. Here's a little about what I do, how it all started, and why I keep showing up.

 

What do I create?
I co-founded the NowDivas YouTube channel with fellow MVP Kristen Dettman, where we create practical, real-world video tutorials on ITOM Discovery, CMDB, Certificate Management, Service Mapping, and integration topics. Our Discovery series walks through everything from Kubernetes Discovery setup with GKE to Nutanix serverless discovery, SSL certificate troubleshooting, and MID Server configurations — the kind of step-by-step guidance I wished existed when I was learning. I also write technical articles and blogs on the ServiceNow Community covering topics like Service Graph Connector identification rules for integrations (Cisco Meraki, Asimily medical devices, SCCM, Intune), WAP and WLC discovery troubleshooting, CMDB key identifiers, MID Server upgrade best practices, certificate archiving, and PowerShell credential test failures — all based on real production scenarios from a healthcare environment. Beyond content, I speak at ServiceNow Knowledge and World Forum events, and my GlowNow app was selected for the ServiceNow App Gallery through the BuildAgent 2025 program. My philosophy is simple: if even one person in the world finds my posts or videos useful, that's a huge win for me.
 
How did I get started?
It started with passion — I absolutely fell in love with ITOM and Integration, and I wanted to start creating content around the topics I was most passionate about. The gap between ServiceNow documentation and what actually happens in a live production environment is enormous, and someone needs to bridge it. After spending years troubleshooting Discovery issues, implementing Service Graph Connectors for Cisco Meraki and Asimily medical device integration, fixing CMDB data quality problems, and chasing down certificate expiration alerts in a healthcare setting with 2,000+ users, I had built up a lot of hard-won knowledge that lived only in my head. I started answering questions on the ServiceNow Community forums, then wrote my first article about CMDB key identifiers, and the response blew me away — people were dealing with the exact same challenges. That's when Kristen and I decided to launch NowDivas, combining her ITSM expertise with my ITOM and integration background. It wasn't a grand plan. It grew naturally from wanting to give back what I'd learned the hard way — including the mistakes, the failed attempts, and the late-night troubleshooting sessions.
 
Why do I keep sharing? This is my first time being named a ServiceNow MVP.
Because I remember what it felt like to be stuck. I remember staring at ECC queue errors at midnight with no one to ask. I remember the frustration of discovering a certificate management bug that took weeks to isolate before ServiceNow confirmed it as a product defect. I remember returning to IT after a six-year career break and wondering if I still belonged. Every time I share a solution, write an article, or record a NowDivas tutorial, I think about that one person somewhere in the world facing the same problem right now — and if my experience can save them even a few hours of frustration, that's worth every minute I spend creating. This is my first time being named a ServiceNow MVP, and it's a recognition I don't take lightly. But truthfully, even without any title, I'd still be doing this. The ServiceNow community gave me a platform to rebuild my confidence and my career. Sharing knowledge is simply how I say thank you.
