Hello, ServiceNow Community!
I'm Selva Arun, a ServiceNow Developer from Massachusetts. I work with ITOM Discovery, CMDB, Certificate Management, Integration, and ITSM. Honestly, being named an MVP for the first time still hasn't fully sunk in. I was a Rising Star in 2024 and 2025, and I never really planned any of this — but I wouldn't change it either.
What do I create?
Kristen Dettman (also an MVP) and I co-founded the NowDivas YouTube channel. We make video tutorials on ITOM Discovery, CMDB, Certificate Management, Service Mapping, and integrations. Our Discovery series covers Kubernetes Discovery with GKE, Nutanix serverless discovery, SSL certificate troubleshooting, MID Server configurations — the kind of walkthroughs I wished existed when I was learning all of this.
I write articles on the ServiceNow Community too — Service Graph Connector identification rules for Cisco Meraki, Asimily medical devices, SCCM, and Intune integrations, WAP and WLC discovery troubleshooting, CMDB key identifiers, MID Server upgrade best practices, certificate archiving, PowerShell credential test failures. All stuff I dealt with in production while supporting a healthcare environment.
I've also spoken at Knowledge and World Forum events, and my GlowNow app got selected for the ServiceNow App Gallery through BuildAgent 2025. If even one person out there finds my posts or videos useful, that's a win.
How did I get started?
I fell in love with ITOM and Integration. That's really what kicked it off. The gap between ServiceNow documentation and what actually happens in a live production environment is huge, and I kept running into situations where the docs just didn't cover what I was seeing.
After years of troubleshooting Discovery issues, implementing Service Graph Connectors for Cisco Meraki and Asimily medical devices, fixing CMDB data quality problems, and dealing with certificate expiration alerts in a healthcare setting with 2,000+ users, I had a lot of knowledge that was just sitting in my head.
I started answering questions on the Community forums. Then I wrote my first article about CMDB key identifiers and was genuinely surprised — people were running into the exact same things. That's when Kristen and I decided to start NowDivas. She has the ITSM background, I have ITOM and integration. We didn't plan it out. It just grew from wanting to share what we'd figured out the hard way — the mistakes included.
Why do I keep sharing?
Because I remember being stuck. Staring at ECC queue errors at midnight with nobody to ask. Spending weeks trying to isolate a certificate management bug before ServiceNow confirmed it was actually a product defect. Coming back to IT after a six-year career break and wondering if I even belonged anymore.
When I share something — an article, a tutorial, a community answer — I think about whoever is dealing with that same problem right now. If it saves them a few hours, that's enough reason for me.
This is my first time being named an MVP, and I take it seriously. But honestly, I'd be doing this with or without a title. The ServiceNow community helped me rebuild my confidence and my career after that break. Sharing what I know is how I say thank you.
If you're working with ITOM Discovery, CMDB, Certificate Management, Service Graph Connectors, or you're just starting out and figuring things out — reach out. I'm always happy to connect or help troubleshoot.
