Feature Add Idea:

 

Not just for incidents but any entity in servicenow that I can assign myself as taking ownership of the item but please consider adding a button labeled something like "Take Ownership" or whatever you want it to be that once pressed, it would assign the item to me and save the record.

 

This would be a huge time saver.

 

Areas I can see this on is incidents, change tasks, catalog tasks and any other item that I can select in a drop down my name to assign the work to me.

 

Please get this idea in front of development.

Hi @jbruns2019,

 

there is already the "Assign to me" button where applicable - you cannot just go and randomly assign ticket to you just because you want to... there are procedures that firstly incident is assigned to an assignment group and then only people from that group can be assignees, if you need somebody else who is not in that group, you must change the group... and if you are not a member of the assignment group you will very often not even see that record, because why would you? 🙂

 

So what's the purpose of that button that you suggest? Please give me an example where this would be a benefit or what am I missing? 😛

@jbruns2019 thinking out loud, you can create a template where you would assign it to you by one click and then saving the form..

When I wrote this, the assumption is that I am a member of the group that is assigned to the item.

OK @jbruns2019 in that case you can just add existing button Assign to me to be displayed on a form:

Eventually you can add it as a form link, context menu and/or workspace view...
