Feature Add Idea:
Not just for incidents but any entity in servicenow that I can assign myself as taking ownership of the item but please consider adding a button labeled something like "Take Ownership" or whatever you want it to be that once pressed, it would assign the item to me and save the record.
This would be a huge time saver.
Areas I can see this on is incidents, change tasks, catalog tasks and any other item that I can select in a drop down my name to assign the work to me.
Please get this idea in front of development.

I was hoping that this button would be there out-of-the-box (OOTB) for all customers. No customization needed or desired. My place of work is moving back to OOTB soon.

My organization is moving to OOTB for ServiceNow so this feature add request still needs to be considered.
"the purpose of that button"?
The purpose is to save the operator the hassle of selecting the drop down, scrolling down to their name, selecting their name and pressing Save. Mouse clicks and scrolling that could be negated by a simple OOTB button.

@jbruns2019 so the "Assign to me" button will solve your requirement, no? It's OOTB and it does the trick...

Is it OOTB for incident, change tasks, RITM tasks and so on?

@jbruns2019
Yes, that's correct.
Go to UI Actions and select the desired table for the Assigned to me:
And just add it to the Form by marking the Form field true, or as per my previous comment:
https://www.servicenow.com/community/incident-management-forum/feature-suggestions/m-p/3359900/highl...
There are plenty of options where you can place it > form field, form link, unser the context menu, select one of more and just mark it true:
Do you plan to have that button in Workspace as well?
