you can configure the header fields for the correct workspace
Set up a form header in Configurable Workspace
I updated it for SOW and was able to add REQ number
1) this is the record to configure for SOW

2) then add New button and add REQ Number by selecting the REQ field

1. Navigate to Workspace Experience - > Workspace Form Headers
2. Apply the filter (If its SOW workspace)
3. Go to the Secondary values related list and create a new entry for Request
